Azusa Ono is an award-winning London-based lighting designer working internationally.
Azusa has been creating lighting designs for a wide range of live performances and art forms for two decades.
Her work explores the boundaries of conventional frameworks by broadening and shifting perspectives through lighting. Thrives on collaboration with other creatives and artists.
Winner of Japan’s top stage lighting prize for Deaf Republic, with an accompanying ministerial award in 2026.
Nominated for the Profile Awards for The Spy Who Came In From the Cold at the Minerva Theatre, Chichester in 2025.
Recent stage work includes @sohoplace, Trafalgar Theatre and Harold Pinter Theatre in the West End, and the National Theatre.
Art collaborations include the COP27 Health Pavilion in Egypt, Tate Modern’s Tanks and the Barbican Theatre.
